Marie Boelté 1836-1918

Maria Boelte was trained by Luise, the widow of Froebel. She taught with the Ronges in London. Together with her husband John Kraus she opened the New York Normal Training Kindergarten, where Susan Blow began her career.

Maria Kraus Boelte and John Kraus wrote The Kindergarten Guide, a two volume guide to Froebel's kindergarten methods and materials. The first volume covers Froebel's Gifts, while this second volume discusses the Occupation materials.
